Satoru Gojo is a messy drunk.

He practically melts once he moves onto his second drink – something fruity and sweet because he doesn’t like the taste of alcohol, not like Shoko and Nanami do. But those drinks are the most dangerous, because he can just happily sip on them until his mind is hazy and his eyes take a little too long to focus. His smile turns sloppy, and he hangs off his friends, long limbs tangled around theirs while they just sigh and pat his head affectionately.

And then, on the third drink, he starts to stumble.

It’s almost comical to see someone who usually has such precise control over his body start to fade, but those gangly limbs are treacherous, and he’s stumbling over his feet right into Suguru’s chest.

Dumping his drink all over Suguru’s t-shirt.

Suguru tries to hide his frustration as the two of them pile into Satoru’s guest bathroom, but he can’t hide the slight downturning of his lips in a frustrated grimace as he pulls off his shirt to try and rinse the stain off in the sink.

Satoru hangs off his shoulder, whining drunkenly in his ear, “Suguru I’m sorryyyyyy.”

“You’ve said that like ten times, Satoru. Just stop.”

“‘Cause you haven’t forgiven me!”

Suguru just continues to grimace as he attempts to wash the stain out. He should’ve grabbed Shoko; girls always know how to get stains out, right?

Satoru watches his best friend, blinking drunkenly in the bright lights of the bathroom, trying to focus. He knows he should feel guilty for ruining Suguru’s favorite t-shirt, and he does, but he also can’t help but be distracted by the cut of Suguru’s collarbones, curling delicately into his shoulders, where his deltoids are so perfectly carved. He thinks about what it would be like to kiss him there, to bite the fragile bones or the thick corded muscle, to lick his warm tan skin– He shakes the thoughts away, shifting nervously as he feels a slight tightening of his pants.

He’s just drunk; he can’t be thinking like this.

Suguru sighs in frustration and tosses his shirt on the counter, gripping the marble and leaning over the faucet. He closes his eyes and inhales slowly, trying to calm himself down. He knows Satoru didn’t mean it, knows it’s partially his fault for letting him drink that much in the first place. So he turns back to his best friend, violet eyes meeting startling blue, and trains his expression into one of soft understanding. Satoru has the good sense to look wrecked about the situation, so Suguru just sighs again and grabs his t-shirt, because he knows he didn’t mean to ruin his limited run merch from his favorite band’s anniversary tour–

He tosses the t-shirt in Satoru’s hamper. “Can I borrow a shirt?”

Satoru nods, eyes wide like a pleased little puppy, happy to be able to make it up to him somehow. “Yeah! Pick something out. You can take anything.”

Suguru walks out of the bathroom and down the hall to Satoru’s bedroom, with his white-haired friend at his heels, comfortable enough in the space to just reach into the closet and start sifting through the hanging shirts.

Satoru sits on the edge of his bed, looking a little worse for wear.

Suguru raises an eyebrow at him as he grabs a black t-shirt – at least now if Satoru stumbles again, he won’t ruin another shirt – and pulls it off the hanger. “You good?”

Satoru blinks at him, his attention being pulled back to the present. He was far too busy looking at Suguru’s chest, the planes of his muscles stretching with every movement; God, the alcohol in his system was making his body thrum with tension, and sitting here watching Suguru stand in his bedroom with his shirt off, smooth tan skin on perfect display for him–

Fuck! Pull yourself together.

Satoru nods, putting a big drunken smile on his face to cover just how much he wants to put his mouth on his best friend. “I’m good. Just bored. You gonna hurry up or what?”

Suguru rolls his eyes and pulls the shirt over his head, letting it drop down over his chest. “This is your fault, you know?”

Satoru just continues to grin, bright blue eyes trailing down Suguru’s form, lingering on his slim waist, wondering how it would feel to put his hands there and pull him closer… “Yeah, yeah. Let me make it up to you!”

Suguru gives him a sceptical look. “And how would you do that?”

“Let’s dance!”

Suguru scoffs. “I don’t dance.”

“Well, you do now.” Satoru stands and comes over, his grin lofty as he steps forward like a predator. “Need to practice before we go back downstairs? You know, so you don’t embarrass yourself?”

Suguru looks unimpressed. “I should knock you out.”

It’s Satoru’s turn to scoff now. “As if you could. Besides, I’m being very nice.”

“You’re being a smartass.”

“No,” Satoru insists, still smiling, “I’m drunk and I wanna dance with my best friend.” And with that he puts his hand on Suguru’s waist and tugs him forward until their chests bump together. Satoru feels his heart flutter in his chest, and he’s not exactly sure what he’s even doing, but he knows he wants to be closer to him, wants to feel his body against his.

Just wants to dance.

Suguru watches him for a long moment, and Satoru can’t tell what he’s thinking. But he doesn’t pull away, so he takes that as a good sign. His skin is warm through the dark t-shirt, and Satoru’s fingers flex around his waist, pulling him just a bit closer. 

Then Suguru puts a hand on Satoru’s shoulder, and they join their hands, and they’re swaying back and forth.

They’re quiet for a moment, and then Suguru raises his eyebrow again. “You know there’s no music, right?”

“What, you want me to sing to you?”

He snorts, trying to seem derisive, but he can’t hide the glimmer of mirth in his violet eyes as he gazes at Satoru. “No, actually, I don’t.”

Satoru grins again. “You just don’t know what you’re missing.”

Suguru just huffs a laugh and rolls his eyes as they gently sway in the silence of Satoru’s bedroom. It’s a peaceful moment, and Satoru is just watching his best friend with stars in his eyes, and his fingers tighten once more around his waist, gripping and trying to contain himself… “Suguru,” he rasps out, and his mouth feels dry, like he can’t hold himself together.

Suguru watches him, and Satoru’s sure that he knows, that he can see the conflict in his eyes–

But instead of pulling away, like he expects him to, Suguru moves his hand from Satoru’s shoulder to the side of his neck, and then he’s leaning forward and pulling him close all in one movement, and then he brushes his lips against Satoru’s oh so gently. He pulls back, just enough to see his reaction, but Satoru’s already lost, his pupils huge in the low light, and he grips Suguru’s slim waist even tighter and tugs him against his chest, and then he’s kissing him properly, lips pressed together in a desperate, crushing kiss.

Suguru can’t help but chuckle, placing a gentle hand on Satoru’s chest to push him away slightly. He examines his bright blue eyes once more, can see how he’s panting, desperate, drunk. “Satoru,” he says, in that purring voice that drives him so fucking crazy. “Slow down. We’ve got time.”

So Satoru lets out a shaky breath, because he knows it’s true; they’re here, together, just like they’ve always been.

They’ve got all the time in the world.

Usually right on the forefront of gathering information of questionable veracity, Emmanellain hears a rumour that catches him off guard.

Honoroit was trying to tell poor Emmanellain that Cessalie and Artoirel had big news to share, but he was too surprised by the rumour he'd picked up completely independently from the Ishgardian contingent returning from Ala Mhigo to listen.

hello fan creators!

Year of the OTP is officially back for 2025 with a new set of prompts!

we've switched some of the prompt categories around in an effort to make the event more inclusive of all kinds of fanworks. we've also included song prompts this year! the playlist is on spotify here.

we want to give a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the last event - it grew so much larger than we ever expected and it's truly amazing how you all took our last set of prompts and made so many wonderful things. keep it up!

a couple housekeeping notes: we will not be reblogging every entry this year. mods will keep an eye on the blog if you have any questions, but the reblogs were too much last time. thank you for your understanding!
